I am a woman and I can (...)

Yesterday was International Women's Day, which I love to celebrate. Well, now I celebrate with a little less intensity now, but the amount of warm words that come across the Internet is beautiful. I love the fact that each of us wants to wish each other the best and send those kind words out into the world, but also to make us realize that not all of us have the same privileges. I would like each of us to know that we can feel how we want and want completely different things than the other, and at the same time accept that each of us has differently.

Some will put a makeup every day because they like it, others not at all or only occasionally. Some will shave their legs because they prefer it that way, and others not at all because they have their reasons for doing so. Some will dream of being a mother, others will not want to have children at all. Some will like slim bodies, while others will like muscular ones. Some will go to yoga and others to boxing. Some will dress in crop tops and shorts and others will wear long sleeves. Each has their own reasons for doing so, and that's ok.

Jedne będą lubiły smukłe ciała, a inne umięśnione.

Let's believe that we can be whatever we want to be. That there is no canon of beauty, no exact life women’s path to follow or rules for women to follow. We ourselves can decide how we want to look, what we want to do and what kind of life we want to have. And we can be wrong!!! Feel terrible, regret decisions and so on... It's all ok.

I hug you and wish you a beautiful and special day! Even if it is an ordinary Saturday ;)

Przytulam was i życzę pięknego, wyjątkowego dnia! Nawet jeśli jest to zwykła sobota ;)

Women to Women

Tuesday, 8th march – The International Women’s Day. One of my favorite days during the year. I know that we can manifest and celebrate our femininity every day but International Women’s Day is the day when I celebrate it the most. Last year I wrote a post about it, this time I’ll talk about something different. On Tuesday I went to the Women’s Cycle, a special meeting for women, and it was my inspiration for today’s blog post.

Wtorek, 8 marca – Dzień Kobiet. Jeden z moich ulubionych dni w roku.

As I mentioned before, a Women’s Cycle is a meeting of a group of women. Very often they don’t know each other, but still they find a lot of topics to talk about – work, family, business, intimacy, even very private stuff. No criticism, no shame, only support and unlimited openness. It’s an amazing feeling when you can talk with someone that you don’t know and you can share your thoughts freely without being afraid of others' opinions. And that has become an inspiration for today’s blog post.

Bezgraniczna otwartość, chęć słuchania i bycia wysłuchaną, poczucie wsparcia i jedność – właśnie to zainspirowało mnie do napisania dzisiejszego posta.

I have the feeling that sometimes women trip other women up. You can agree or not but the situation between women is not that clear. There are both friendship and enmity, support and lack of help, truth with lies. But even though the situation looks like this, when solidarity appears, a huge power and strength appear too.

When I was sitting with other women during our meeting and I was listening to their stories, sharing mine too, I realized that everyone of us had a huge background of experiences, starting with giving birth in terrible conditions, through losing a beloved one, ending with living in a rush all the time. And at the same time I realized how everyone felt relieved and calm knowing that we weren’t alone with our problems. It was a beautiful experience.

I realized that this kind of meetings are very necessary, because first you can get a huge support from others, second you can meet other people with the same problems/situations, third you can feel solidarity and unity with others by sharing your experiences. Actually it’s the same for all of the meetings with people who have something in common, it doesn’t need to be the Women’s Cycle.

To all of Women, even though the International Women's Day is over, I wish you all the best, lots of sun in your life, beautiful experiences and this feeling of being strong and powerful! You’re wonderful and everyone of you is unique, Ladies! ;)

Femininity

Femininity is a term that can bring us different things to our mind. For some of us it can be associated with some characteristics, for another group it can be something about physical aspects and for the rest this word can even not exist. Those thoughts are based on the social research I did last week and I have to say that I was pretty surprised about them because they showed me a different point of view.

Kobiecość to słowo budzące wiele różnych skojarzeń.

In this social research I asked three questions. For the first one – f e m i n i n i t y, what does it mean for you? – I got some very nice and interesting answers. Femininity means to be proud of being a woman. It’s being okay with yourself and with your physicality. It’s about being empathic and gentle but really strong at the same time. But there’s also another point of view – there’s no such a thing as femininity, there are neutral qualities that are culturally associated with sex and t’s cool to just mix them as we want, no matter who we are and how we are feeling with that.
The second question was about manifesting femininity – about actions we do to manifest it. And here we have: manifesting by not putting other women down, by manifesting yourself as you are, by supporting friends and family but also taking care of your needs, and feeling good with yourself.
The last one was actually my favorite – what do you like in your femininity? It was a great pleasure to read your answers! The thing you like is for example the fact that it’s not necessarily the same femininity as our parents/grandparents think of. That you are stronger than somebody would expect. And that feeling of being confident and unique. Because every one of us is a unique woman.

When it comes to me, femininity is about being fragile, sensitive and gentle. I can notice those characteristics in myself and I feel like they are a part of my femininity. I manifest it outside and also inside by accepting those characteristics and feeling good with them. I like to be deeply moved by a movie, put a fancy make up on experimenting with eye colors, I like my sensitivity and emotionality, and getting dressed in an elegant way without any occasion.
I don’t want to say that without those things you can’t say that you’re not feminine, absolutely not. Every one of us has a different image of femininity, which was also shown in this social research. And I think that we can sum it up with a sentence that every one of us has our own femininity.
To all the Women – no matter where you are in your life now, I want to wish you all the best for Women’s Day! Let the power and strength, that you have inside you, wake up with the coming spring and bring you the energy you need!
