4 years of blogging, 2 years of podcasting

Last Thursday I celebrated not only the first day of spring, but also the 4th birthday of the blog and the 2nd birthday of the podcast. I must say that I can't believe that after such a long time I'm still here writing blog posts, recording podcast episodes and sharing my thoughts. These two projects are my little treasures, and I'm happy to have my creative springboard alongside what I do on a daily basis.

Over the years of creating and sharing various things - thoughts, recipes, inspiration, conversations or advice - I have also learned many things. First, I’ve learned that I don't have to strive for perfection, because sometimes something that seems completely unpolished makes the biggest splash. Second, I've learned to let go, but at the same time to work on regularity - on the one hand, I try to plan posts and podcast episodes ahead to keep me on track, but I know that life isn't perfect, so if nothing appears on the blog or podcast on some Saturday, the world won't collapse :) And third, I've learned that the development of these two projects is a constant process that is ongoing all the time.

And with this last one there is a small anecdote - well, immediately after starting the blog I had the thought in my head that very soon I would hear from people willing to cooperate, I would immediately get PR packages and do advertising and in general I would be a 'famous influencer'. By the way, I'm not a fan of that term, but that's a topic for another post. Anyway, as you can probably guess, no packages came, and potential collaborations didn't appear at all. And so it went until this year.

Today I can proudly announce that after these few years a beautiful collaboration opportunity has come to me! Mary Lou, who runs a beautiful jewelry store, decided to join forces and start cooperating with me :) I have a discount code for you, which will give you -25% on all products at ESTY. Just enter PRIMINEERS25 and the discount will calculate itself! I got a beautiful LILY and a necklace with the moon from Mary, and as a gift for the birthday of the blog and podcast, I got a bracelet and earrings to complete the set. DM to Mary on her Instagram for the international delivery, she’ll give you some details! Also, check out her profile where there are behind-the-scenes of creation, daily life, as well as news in the store.

And back to the topic of the blog and the podcast - sometimes I ask myself, how long will I create...? Well, I don't know the answer to this question, but somewhere in the back of my mind I have the thought that probably for a long time to come ;)

Ja mam od Mary piękny naszyjnik Lilia i naszyjnik z zawieszką półksiężyca, a prezencie z okazji urodzin bloga i podcastu dostałam bransoletkę i kolczyki Porto do kompletu.

I am a woman and I can (...)

Yesterday was International Women's Day, which I love to celebrate. Well, now I celebrate with a little less intensity now, but the amount of warm words that come across the Internet is beautiful. I love the fact that each of us wants to wish each other the best and send those kind words out into the world, but also to make us realize that not all of us have the same privileges. I would like each of us to know that we can feel how we want and want completely different things than the other, and at the same time accept that each of us has differently.

Some will put a makeup every day because they like it, others not at all or only occasionally. Some will shave their legs because they prefer it that way, and others not at all because they have their reasons for doing so. Some will dream of being a mother, others will not want to have children at all. Some will like slim bodies, while others will like muscular ones. Some will go to yoga and others to boxing. Some will dress in crop tops and shorts and others will wear long sleeves. Each has their own reasons for doing so, and that's ok.

Jedne będą lubiły smukłe ciała, a inne umięśnione.

Let's believe that we can be whatever we want to be. That there is no canon of beauty, no exact life women’s path to follow or rules for women to follow. We ourselves can decide how we want to look, what we want to do and what kind of life we want to have. And we can be wrong!!! Feel terrible, regret decisions and so on... It's all ok.

I hug you and wish you a beautiful and special day! Even if it is an ordinary Saturday ;)

Przytulam was i życzę pięknego, wyjątkowego dnia! Nawet jeśli jest to zwykła sobota ;)

It's the Carnival!

It's been a week since I’ve come back from Martinique and I've been recovering over the last few days - jet lag hit me well and the sudden change of weather (for the worse) hasn't improved my mood at all. Hence the lack of any activity last Saturday... oops! But today I come to you with some content rich in juicy experiences and fabulous photos, and that's because I'm going to tell you about the Carnival in Martinique that I saw and experienced two weeks ago.

I must admit that I had never heard of Carnival being celebrated so pompously in Martinique - it even has its own page on Wikipedia, but only in French :p It is considered as one of the most beautiful and interesting carnivals in the world! Over a few days, city centers are shut down and from 4PM parades, processions, and dancing in the streets begin. Literally it’s a big four-days-party.

It all takes place during the so-called "jours gras", literally "fat days" – these are the days that precede Lent and from Saturday evening to Wednesday inclusive, crowds of people revel in the streets. During these days, there are parades and processions of groups who create choreographies and costumes and musical accompaniment before carnival time. Each day has a theme - Sunday is all colors, Monday is 'mariage burlesque' which means men dress up as women and women dress up as men. Tuesday is 'diable rouge', dominated by red and black colors and devil horns, and Wednesday is the burning of the carnival king, or so-called Vaval, as a symbolic end to the 'fat days'.

This Carnival was an amazing cultural experience for me, as in Poland Carnival is somehow not celebrated at all and nothing happens apart from eating donuts. Martinique, on the other hand, turns into one big party club! I was very impressed by the freedom to dance, dress up and have a great time regardless of age, appearance or gender. All generations from the youngest to the oldest are having fun. And that is really beautiful.

But (!) there is one thing that annoyed me a bit and that is the women's outfits. Because on the one hand it's cool that they're showing them off, they don't have complexes (I suppose) and they're having fun. However, in the back of my mind I have a thought that it's a bit like showing off your body as the only interesting thing, that looks are the only thing that matters. Like they’re trying to sell themselves at the price of the size of their boobs or butt... and yet the body is not everything. Of course, I may be wrong, but the thought sits in my head anyway.

Nevertheless, I had a great time! And if you get the chance to go, I highly recommend it! The weather during this period is also good :D

Niemniej jednak bawiłam się świetnie! I jak będziecie mieć okazję, żeby pojechać, to gorąco polecam! Pogoda w tym okresie również dopisuje :D

January essentials and favorite moments

January is over! Can you imagine that the first month of the New Year is already behind? Well, I'm quite surprised, haha! Normally I used to record a podcast episode with some previous month essentials and favorite moments but then it's only in Polish so I decided to write a post in English instead. Let's go!

Highlight of this month - a jewelry workshop.
I worked in a jewelry manufacturer but it was a long time ago and I've already forgotten how cool it is! This month I participated in a jewelry workshop with a friend and I made a neckles and a bracelet and now I'm wearing this with pride as I'm the creator of those pieces!

Highlight 2.0 - the end of semester.
I'm already over all of my exams and currently I'm on my way to relax and have fun :D It was just overwhelming and stressful and I'm glad it's already finished. Talking about university - well I didn't get the internship abroad as I wanted but it's okay. I wasn't fine at all but now I'm good and looking forward to having the internship in Łódź!

Quick trips back home.
I went to Poznan twice this month and it was really cool! I went to see my Grandmas and also I met some of my friends and my best friend had her 25th birthday party. We also had a board game party at my house and I laughed so hard that I had a stomach ache haha! I really like those trips back to Poznan, it makes me feel happy :)

[New Year's] Resolutions update.
As it's the end of the first month, let's do a quick check if everything is going well. Being on time - eh... it depends :P but I'm really trying! Really. Content creating - here I'm doing well, Thanks to my organization you can have this post today! Being in contact with others - that's difficult... But I'm trying to send messages and answer and do check-ins. This is just the first month so I hope I'll do better in the next one!

And how was your month? Let me know in the comment or send me a message on my Instagram! <3 I would love to know how January was for you :)

New Year’s Resolutions – hot or not?

January has already set in, but I want to get back to the subject of New Year's resolutions because it's a hot topic especially now. In today’s post I decided to talk about my resolutions for this year but also about how I’m going to achieve them. Because one thing is to say I have such and such resolutions, and another thing is to stick to them and strive to achieve them.

And here's the question - does anyone else get resolutions for the new year? Hmmm, I think so. The truth is that even in our professional lives we set some plans and resolutions. Maybe the only thing that has changed is that you don't have to wait for the new year to decide something. There are a lot of voices saying that at any given moment we can change something, introduce a new habit, renew the old one and so on. That's why I thought it might be better to simply call these resolutions RESOLUTIONS, not necessarily New Year's resolutions. What do you think?

But the fact is, the new year is when these resolutions are most talked about, so I'll talk about them too! As I already mentioned, I am going to tell you what I'm going to do, but I'll also specify how I want to do it. This is quite an important aspect, because as I said before, one thing is to decide and another to implement!

1. not be late.

This is a big problem of mine... I leave home too late, in my mind the distance is not that long, or I miscalculate the time I need to get there... and I end up being 5-10 minutes late. Or 2 minutes for an online class!
What am I going to do? Set times to leave for university 5 minutes before the actual time :p This means that if I have to leave at 7:45 I tell myself I have to leave at 7:40 and even if I have a slip of 5 minutes I still leave on time. And when I'm going to a meeting I've decided to add an extra 10 minutes of slack. That is to say, if I need 30 minutes to get there, then I plan a total of 40 minutes for the whole journey to be on time!

2. be more present on the blog, in the podcast and on Instagram.

And it's not about pressure to post a lot, but rather about scheduling content wisely. I had a couple of situations last year where a podcast episode or blog post didn't appear because... I planned it wrong. It wasn't even because I didn't have time, it just somehow worked out that it was a Saturday, I had a post practically ready to go live, but here this here that and somehow I didn't publish it. So this year I want to plan my content properly, sit down with a notebook and a calendar and get on with it! Keep your fingers crossed! And look forward to new content <3

3. move in with my boyfriend :)

This resolution is more like a project and I have some idea of how we'll achieve it, but the truth is that it doesn't involve developing habits or something, just organizing a big move. If it goes well, maybe even in March! And if not in March then a little later, but definitely this year.
For those who don't know, I'll explain - I've been in a long-distance relationship for more than two years and 2024 will be the year we move from distance to everyday life together!

4. contact with friends and family.

I have a couple of these contacts on my phone that I think about all the time and end up not calling or writing despite the fact that I care about keeping in touch with these people. This year I've decided to make a list of people that I want to call or write to regularly and ask how they are doing.

This is what my resolutions look like, what do yours look like? Do you already have an action plan? Remember that an action plan increases the likelihood of achieving your goal! I'm keeping my fingers crossed ;)

POSTANAWIAM I ROBIĘ

źle to rozplanowałam. Trzymajcie kciuki! I wyczekujcie nowych treści <3

Trzymam kciuki ;)

Reflecting on 2023 – a huge throwback to last year!

I know we've already entered 2024, but that doesn't change the fact that we can still go back to 2023 ;)

The end of the year is a time for me to stop and reflect on the whole year - for a couple of years now, I've sat down with a notebook and made a big throwback to the events of the ending year and written down all the lessons, nice moments and beautiful memories I want to remember. I love that moment when, after writing it all down, the thought comes to me "and all this happened this year?!", haha! Before you jump into this post, take your notebook or a simple piece of paper and do a recap with me :) I'll be asking myself (and you) questions to help me get through last year!

Question No. 1: What have I learnt this year?

First and foremost, dealing with fear. For a long time it seemed to me that fear was not a normal emotion and feeling it suggested that something was wrong. Spoiler alert, fear is nor-mal! I've started to get used to the idea and, just as fear totally overpowered me at the beginning of this year, now I know how to face it.
The other thing is accepting and acknowledging emotions, which turned out to be the first step to letting go. Seriously, the moment I started saying to myself "I recognise that I am sad/angry/jealous/uncomfortable and I accept that" then suddenly the emotions started to melt and I was better.
The third and final lesson is tenderness towards myself. I'm sure you know that you are your own biggest critics - I am too, which is why I often was angry at me, even though there was actually no reason to. In 2023, I started to be more gentle to myself. And, another spoiler, it started to get a lot easier for me. In this small research I was helped by Natalia de Barbaro's "Tender Guide" (A Polish psychological book) . I'm not sure if it is available abroad but if you have a chance to read this book – go ahead and read! Totally recommended.

Trzecia i ostatnia lekcja, to czułość wobec mnie samej. W tym szukaniu i odnajdywaniu czułości pomogła mi „Czuła Przewodniczka” Natalii de Barbaro, którą serdecznie polecam każdej z was.

Question No. 2: When was I happiest?

When I was traveling, of course! 2023 exceeded my wildest expectations when it comes to travel - I visited many places but also traveled the same routes maaanyyy times. Also, my happiness level increases when I am among my friends and with my family. I realized that I am a very social person and I NEED to be with people and when I stay alone for too long, I start to fall into my old patterns that don’t do any good in my life.

Question 3: Greatest successes of 2023!

My greatest success is passing my driving license!!! I'm incredibly proud of that and I applaud myself all the time. I've been planning to get my driving license since 2017... so I'm glad I finally did it :p My second big success is finding what I want to do in life, which is to work in the beauty industry, especially in the technological field. I found a course of study that suits me very well.

The last success is probably the most beautiful success I have achieved so far - I finished my therapy. After almost a year of working together, my therapist and I decided that I am already in a place where I know how to cope on my own. I've written more about it here, so you can just click and check this out!

Pytanie nr 3: Najwspanialsze sukcesy 2023!

Mój największy sukces to zdanie prawa jazdy!!!

Question 4: Biggest surprises.

The biggest surprise of last year was the meeting of my mum and my boyfriend's mum. We had already planned it in April, or even March, and I was really happy that we actually made it to meet all together. Also this trip to Paris was a beautiful adventure for my mum! So I was very happy to see her enjoying this small vacation :) The second surprise was that I did three internships at once (!) during the summer holidays, two of which were online. Well, it wasn't the best idea, as it brought a lot of stress, but I managed. The third surprise, probably one of the most beautiful ones, was the frequency of meetings with my boyfriend. Considering the fact that we live in two different countries, and we were able to meet up to twice a month (!) I think that this is our great success <3

No i w ogóle przyjazd mojej mamy do Paryża, to dopiero była przygoda!

Question No. 5: What am I ending 2023 with?

I am ending this year with the thought that I have a lot of resources and strength within me to change, to get through all sorts of crises and other difficult situations. I was recently told that I have great power within me to transform mental crises into rich life lessons. I am pretty sure that you too have far more resources and strength within you than you think!

And this is how I’m starting 2024, with a fresh mind and good perspective. I am also planning to write a post about my plans for 2024 so if you’re interested, be sure to check out my blog in two weeks!

Stay tuned :D

Preparing for Christmas!

Christmas is just a week away! This year Christmas Eve is being hosted at my family home, so this is where the preparations start to pick up pace. Today I’m going to share with you how the time before Christmas looks like in my house - welcome to a nice, casual December post about Christmas preparations!

First of all, the decorations - I've written about this before, check this out here. A Christmas tree full of baubles, never all in one style. It’s a colorful mess with lights that I love. In my house we never choose a color or theme for the decorations, we always hang all the baubles we have, and we have a huge variety. Apart from the Christmas tree, the Christmas table decorations appear, mistletoe and candles here and there. And, if we find the lights, they will be hung on the windows too!

The second thing is, of course, the dishes - we start with gingerbread cookies and make a big event out of it every year. We invite friends and open a real gingerbread factory. The most fun is of course the decorating, so this stage of gingerbread baking is the most popular. There's always a certain disproportion - one or two people cut the gingerbread from the dough and five or six decorate it, haha! Apart from the gingerbread cookies, of course, there are other cakes - poppy cakes, cheesecake, plus another cake that we bake later, usually just before Christmas.

Zapraszamy znajomych i otwieramy prawdziwą manufakturę pierniczków.

What's next? Gifts! For the past three years, we've been trying to prepare some handmade gifts and, as I'm studying in the cosmetic field, we decided to create some beauty products that are easy to prepare and, later, to use. I'm not revealing more, but if you’re looking for some inspo, check out the other posts in this series - since 2020, I've been writing a Christmas gift guide for every budget! Christmas gift guide 2020, 2021, 2022.

Co dalej? Prezenty! Prezentownik 2020, 2021, 2022.

One more thing! Christmas cards! I love making them on my own. Every year I have some troubles sending them out on time... but this year I managed to send them all out and hopefully they will arrive before Christmas! For me it's great fun and brings me back to an old passion - calligraphy.

Jeszcze jedno!

Preparing for Christmas is always a lot of fun for me, but also a lot of stress - will I get everything done on time? This year I'm on time, so hopefully everything will be ready for Christmas! And what does it look like for you? What do you enjoy doing the most? Let me know in the comments!

A jak to u was wygląda? Co najbardziej lubicie robić? Dajcie znać w komentarzu!

I finally did my driver’s license! | talk about achieving goals

I can finally say that I have passed my driving test! And I don't say "finally" because it was my another time taking it, but because I've been thinking about doing it for... 5 years. How did it happen? Well, in the beginning I told myself that I would do my license right after my high school graduation, but I was traveling and then working, so at the end I said to myself that I didn't have time. Then university started, then I said I had to focus on it, because everything was new and unknown and scary. Then I went on Erasmus exchange, and then there was the pandemic, and then I thought I just didn't need it so I wouldn't do a driving license. Well actually, it was an excuse, because I knew that with this driving license it wasn't a fast thing and that I would have to take the time to do it and once I started I would have to finish.

And so It was like this until June this year, when my boyfriend told me to take the first step and check out what driving schools there are in Lodz and when the theory courses start. And that first step, which was not obliging at all, pushed me to start the course. And that's when I realized that I didn't have to wait for some kind of driver's call or an inner need to do my license, because that was unlikely to happen (or at least it was like this in my case). I just had to start, and starting is always the worst.

I decided to use this story to talk about achieving goals. Sometimes our goals fall into the 'needed' or 'I want to do it' category, but at the same time they are not exciting and our motivation to achieve them is not high enough to start right away. Such goals are usually our ideas that require a lot of commitment and work. Then our inner lazy buddy wakes up, a feeling that stops us from achieving it. And the truth is that we only need one small step that brings us at least a little closer to our chosen goal.

Yeah cool, but how do you start? Well, I would say with the simplest thing. In my case, it was to look for a school and find out when the nearest course in theory is. It could be signing up for a language course that prepares you to pass a linguistic certificate at your chosen level. It could be checking the career offers of selected companies or drafting the text of an email about an internship or apprenticeship. Simple, but challenging at the same time. However, once you get going, the satisfaction at the end of this journey is indescribable.

Ah and the reward! Achieving a goal is a success and I recommend celebrating that. I made myself a present after my exam :) But it could be any other form of appreciation for your work! Whatever comes into your head. The important thing is that you feel proud of what you have achieved. This, by the way, was one of the phases of my therapy - appreciating and being proud of my achievements, which allowed me to see how many small and big successes I had in my life.

Ah i nagroda! Osiągnięcie celu to sukces i polecam to celebrować.

Achieving goals is a more complex topic than what I've written here, so I recommend seeing Lavendaire's and Muchelleb channels, which go really deep into the subject. And for French speakers, there's also the podcast J'ai peur donc j'y vais! Plus be sure to let me know how it is in your case and what you are doing to achieve what you want?

This post is written in three languages – French, English and Polish. This time I decided to write also in French as the event I’m going to talk about was fully in French. Chin chin! Cheers!

On the 30th and 31st of October I had a chance to participate in a Congress of Francophone Youth in Quebec in Canada – an international event fully in French language! I was so impressed that the language of this event was French and no English. I mean, when you think about an international event you directly assume that you’re gonna talk in English. But not in this case! I felt like French is becoming my second maternal language and it felt really good.

This Congress was mostly about a sustainable development and climate change so we could see how those changes affect different countries, different places where we live. Not gonna lie it was bad and scary but (!) we went back to our countries with hope and motivation to change something. Because when you have 83 people in one place from all around the world and you talk about how to change something, you can see this silver lining in the tunnel.

I’m really happy and grateul to take part in this Congress, it was a wonderful experience and I hope I’ll see those people one day again!
