There’s a reason for the subtitle of my blog, I mean “little partner for your coffee break” – I am a huge coffee lover and coffee is a very important (but not the most!) part of my day. The story starts in high school when I started to drink a typical coffee + hot water made without any French press, Italian coffee maker, or whatever. Just coffee with hot water. At that time, this kind of coffee was good enough for me but now I’m more picky when it comes to taste and my expectations are really high. Now I prepare my coffee in an Italian coffee maker which makes coffee stronger than a French press and so coffee has more flavor (but it’s my opinion only!). I already wrote a couple of times here and there that a cup of coffee is my small pleasure and the process of making it is one of my favorite moments during the day. But actually a cup of coffee in a lovely coffee shop is even better!
Nie bez powodu opisem bloga jest „little partner for your coffee break” – jestem wielką miłośniczką kawy i kawa jest dla mnie ważnym elementem w ciągu dnia. Historia mojej relacji z kawą zaczyna się w liceum, kiedy piłam zwykłą „zalewajkę”. W tamtym czasie kawa w takiej formie mi smakowała, ale dzisiaj moje kubki smakowe mają większe wymagania. Teraz przygotowuję kawę w kawiarce, czyli w tzw. włoskim ekspresie. Jest mocniejsza niż z french pressa i moim zdaniem ma więcej aromatu. Już kilka razy pisałam o tym, że kubek lub filiżanka dobrej kawy to moja codzienna przyjemność, a proces jej przygotowania jest małym rytuałem. Ale muszę przyznać, że kawa na mieście sprawia mi jeszcze większą radość!
When I go to a cafe, I try to choose the one which is not a chain – Starbucks or Costa Coffee don’t interest me at all (but if you like going there, that’s cool too! I’m not judging people based on where they go to drink coffee :P). I like the places where the interior is an eye candy and where the service is nice and friendly. Yes, service is important! Coffee shops with an ambiance that makes you feel like coming to your friends for a cup of coffee are places I want to go to. Actually, I have a habit to behave as if I already know people working there and then, when I go with a friend, they always ask me if I know the service well but actually I don’t, haha! It’s just really nice to have a small talk about the taste of coffee or some plans you have during a day.
Kiedy idę do kawiarni, zazwyczaj staram się wybrać taką, która nie należy do żadnej sieciówki – Starbucks, Costa Coffee i inne już mnie nie interesują (ale jeśli Was tak, to też fajnie! Nie oceniam ludzi po kawiarniach, które wybierają :p ). Lubię wybrać taką, która ma przyjemne wnętrze i miłą obsługę. No właśnie, obsługa! Uwielbiam kawiarnie o przyjacielskiej atmosferze. Mam tendencję do zagadywania osób pracujących w kawiarniach tak, jakbyśmy znali się od lat. Zdarzały mi się sytuacje, kiedy moi znajomi, z którymi wybrałam się na kawkę, pytali mnie, czy znam baristów osobiście, przy czym ja w ogóle ich nie znałam. Ale zawsze miło jest chwilkę porozmawiać o smaku kawy czy planach na dany dzień.
This trend of friendly ambiance and small talk with a barista is not that popular in my opinion and for me, it was also strange at the beginning. The first time I got to know this way of welcoming customers in the coffee shop, was in one of the small cafes in Poznan. I went there by accident (but nothing happens without a reason!) attracted by the beautiful interior and actually, I became a loyal customer and coffee drinker. Once, the barista introduced himself and at first, I thought it was strange but I also introduced myself and this small gesture started a good relationship, something more than just seller-customer. And until now, I like to go back to those memories from that coffee shop!
Ten trend przyjacielskiego small talku z baristą jeszcze nie jest tak popularny w moich oczach i dla mnie samej był na początku dość nietypowy. Zetknęłam się z nim po raz pierwszy w jednej z poznańskich kawiarni. Poszłam tam raz „przez przypadek” zachęcona jej wnętrzem i jakoś tak wyszło, że zaczęłam do niej chodzić regularnie. Za którymś razem pracujący tam barista przedstawił mi się, co mnie zupełnie zbiło z tropu, ale ten gest zapoczątkował naszą znajomość, która przestała być tylko relacją barista-klientka. Do dziś miło wspominam nasze rozmowy i wspólne kawki!
Okay, I’m just talking about good coffee shops and small cafes, but let’s share those places so you can discover them! And they’re not only in Poland, but I’m also sharing with you some beautiful places in other countries too! Maybe those recommendations are going to be helpful for you.
