• Herblay sur Seine (for the beautiful walks next to the Seine River)
• Enghien-les-Bains (just for a walk around the city and to see the very cool casino!)

Every time when I was going there, I had a reason. Once it was a meeting my friend from college, another time I had a flight from Paris and last time I went there to vote in elections. Every single trip lets me walk on little streets, look at the displays of different shops, discover new places for coffee or just admire the Parisian architecture.

Zawsze gdy tam jechałam, miałam jakiś konkretny powód. Raz było to spotkanie z koleżanką z gimnazjum, raz kwestia lotu z paryskiego lotniska, a teraz były to wybory. Każda taka podróż pozwalała mi na przespacerowanie się uliczkami, na zaglądanie do sklepów, na odkrywanie pięknych miejsc na kawę, czy po prostu na podziwianie tamtejszej architektury. 

Paris is no longer a touristic city for me, but there are still some places, very touristic indeed, that I really like to see. First and the most important (of course) is Eiffel Tour, in front of which I like to sit on the grass. Second thing is a walk on the Champs-Élysées Avenue and looking at displays of those popular shops that seem to be so fancy. Last step is to cross the bridge across the Seine river.
Apart from that I go everywhere by foot, no subway or buses, to really see and explore the city. Especially those small, narrow streets that seem to be forgotten yet still mysterious. And parks, where I can hide for couple minutes in between the trees.

Paryż przestał być dla mnie celem turystycznym, niemniej jednak jest parę miejsc, które zawsze lubię zobaczyć. Przede wszystkim jest to Wieża Eiffle’a, przed którą lubię posiedzieć na trawie. Po drugie to Champs-Élysées, przez które lubię się przejść zaglądając do witryn sklepowych. Po trzecie to Sekwana, na którą lubię popatrzeć stojąc na moście. 

Being so close to Paris, I really appreciated the possibility of discovering this city in a whole new way, but on the other hand I realized that somehow Paris is not as exotic as it was before. While traveling around the world, we discover new places which make us really excited, especially when we see something for the first time. Then, when we go to the same place again and again, this feeling of being excited is a little bit different, not so strong or just felt in another way.

Mieszkając tak blisko Paryża, z jednej strony doceniłam możliwość poznania tego miasta trochę bliżej, mniej turystycznie, z drugiej zauważyłam, że jego egzotyczność nie jest już dla mnie tak widoczna, jak to było wcześniej. Podróżując po świecie i zwiedzając dane miejsce po raz pierwszy, postrzegamy je jako coś zupełnie nowego. Z czasem, gdy odwiedzamy to miejsce po raz kolejny i kolejny, staje się ono czymś znanym i ekscytacja, która jest odczuwana przed pierwszym przyjazdem, ma zupełnie inny wymiar. 

What’s quite interesting, while walking around, I realized that my relationship with Paris can be compared to love relationship. This excitement felt in the beginning became a kind of love, which stays in my heart and wakes up every single time when I go to Paris.

Co ciekawe, przechadzając się uliczkami, doszłam do wniosku, że moja relacja z Paryżem może być porównana do relacji miłosnej. Ta początkowa ekscytacja i wielkie zauroczenie przerodziło się w miłość, której towarzyszą inne uczucia niż wcześniej.
Tak więc w dzień, w którym jadę do Paryża, budzę z uśmiechem.
