Romanticizing my life in autumn

Autumn has arrived. A season that brings with it two kinds of reality. The first one is full of colorful leaves, hot teas sipped under a blanket, lighted candles, cinnamon and turmeric in every dish, pumpkin spice lattes, thick sweaters, and fluffy scarves. The other reality has gray skies, rain, wind, bare tree branches, short days, and a nostalgic look out the window, missing the summer and the spring. Usually, the first few days of autumn, I managed to live in the first reality, but every other day with gray skies and wind flipped me to the second one.

This year, I decided to trick reality, which means staying in this golden-autumn world as long as possible. And I already know how I want to achieve it! It may sound trivial, but I'm going to romanticize my everyday life.

For me, to romanticize reality is to show myself how beautiful the world can be in spite of the rain and wind; that in spite of the gray weather outside the window, which attracts the gloom, I can cover myself with a fluffy blanket, light a candle and leave the gloom outside the window; that in spite of the coming frost, I can wear a soft sweater that will protect me from that. I know it's no revelation, that it may sound slightly naïve or even childish, but if I can choose which reality I want to be in, I prefer to be in the one where I feel joy and happiness.

By the way, I recommend you to listen to the autumn episodes of the matcha diaries podcast! It is from them that I was inspired by the thought of romanticizing life in autumn. To listen on Spotify and on Apple Podcasts!

Przy okazji polecam serdecznie posłuchać sobie jesiennych odcinków podcastu the matcha diaries! Do posłuchania w Spotify i w Apple Podcasty!

I love spring!

I love spring! I think I can surely say that it's my favorite season of the year. I love watching nature waking up after a winter's sleep. I love watching the view outside my window change from day to day. Well, I just love noticing all the little signs that make that lovely thought pop into my head that spring has finally come!

For me, spring is a moment of awakening – well, I may not fall into winter sleep, but I can see from myself that my energy levels are smaller in winter than in spring or summer. That's why when I see the first signs of spring, I immediately feel that I want to do more - go out, meet with friends, take a walk... and of course, clean up! In Polish, we have a saying that can be translated to “spring cleaning” and I think that every kid has a memory of their parents saying that they have to clean, because it’s spring cleaning :p

Spring is a good time to start fresh. Just as at the beginning of the year we make new year’s resolutions and set goals, because after all, New Year = New Me, in spring it is worth to do a short evaluation of these goals and resolutions. Maybe something should be changed, transformed, done differently? Or maybe it is worth to start something new, different? Spring cleaning does not have to be only in the apartment - you can also do it inside you ;).

I decided to toss you previous posts with a similar theme – why not revisit them and get even more inspired! And let me know what you like best this time of year?

Fall season

I've been listening to the matcha diaries podcast, which released a new series of fall episodes. Cara and Leo talk about their autumn routines, the books they plan to read and what autumn brings with itself. And so while I was listening to these conversations, which I highly recommend by the way, I decided to pass on this autumnal inspiration, I took from them, here on the blog. Maybe I won't give you my reading list for autumn 2024, because I'm not a huge book reader like Cara and Leo, but I will tell you about how I would like to spend this year's autumn :)

Słucham sobie ostatnio podcastu the matcha diaries, w którym pojawiła się nowa seria odcinków jesiennych.

First of all - do not have a negative attitude! I tend to fall into the pattern of thinking “it's raining, so it's ugly. It's ugly, so it's sad. It's sad, so I don't want to do anything. I don't want to do anything, so I'm lazy...” And so on and so forth. This time I would like to have a more optimistic attitude and look for rays of joy. Without putting pressure on me, just simple letting it be.

Second – enjoy the autumn aura, which means candles, blankets, sweaters, huge scarves, cinnamon, crumbles with apple, plum cake... all that autumn is, smells and tastes like! By the way, have a look on one of the posts with autumn recipes ;)

And third – autumn is a time to slow down, to let go, to fall asleep. And I'm not talking about stopping any activities, but more about taking care of yourself, your inner self, both in terms of body and spirit. I recommend here evenings under a blanket, a bowl of warm nutritious soup, a smile on a cloudy day and small pleasures like pumpkin spice latte.

And that's it for now! Also you can go and check my old post about autumn drinks. And the podcast I was mentioning in this post, the matcha diaries,  you can find it on Spotify and on Instagram! What will your autumn look like? I look forward to your comments!

I to tyle! Zapraszam was jeszcze tutaj, na post o jesiennych napojach. A podcast the matcha diaries znajdziecie na Spotify i na Instagramie. Jak będzie wyglądać wasza jesień? Czekam na wasze komentarze!

New Year’s Resolutions – hot or not?

January has already set in, but I want to get back to the subject of New Year's resolutions because it's a hot topic especially now. In today’s post I decided to talk about my resolutions for this year but also about how I’m going to achieve them. Because one thing is to say I have such and such resolutions, and another thing is to stick to them and strive to achieve them.

And here's the question - does anyone else get resolutions for the new year? Hmmm, I think so. The truth is that even in our professional lives we set some plans and resolutions. Maybe the only thing that has changed is that you don't have to wait for the new year to decide something. There are a lot of voices saying that at any given moment we can change something, introduce a new habit, renew the old one and so on. That's why I thought it might be better to simply call these resolutions RESOLUTIONS, not necessarily New Year's resolutions. What do you think?

But the fact is, the new year is when these resolutions are most talked about, so I'll talk about them too! As I already mentioned, I am going to tell you what I'm going to do, but I'll also specify how I want to do it. This is quite an important aspect, because as I said before, one thing is to decide and another to implement!

1. not be late.

This is a big problem of mine... I leave home too late, in my mind the distance is not that long, or I miscalculate the time I need to get there... and I end up being 5-10 minutes late. Or 2 minutes for an online class!
What am I going to do? Set times to leave for university 5 minutes before the actual time :p This means that if I have to leave at 7:45 I tell myself I have to leave at 7:40 and even if I have a slip of 5 minutes I still leave on time. And when I'm going to a meeting I've decided to add an extra 10 minutes of slack. That is to say, if I need 30 minutes to get there, then I plan a total of 40 minutes for the whole journey to be on time!

2. be more present on the blog, in the podcast and on Instagram.

And it's not about pressure to post a lot, but rather about scheduling content wisely. I had a couple of situations last year where a podcast episode or blog post didn't appear because... I planned it wrong. It wasn't even because I didn't have time, it just somehow worked out that it was a Saturday, I had a post practically ready to go live, but here this here that and somehow I didn't publish it. So this year I want to plan my content properly, sit down with a notebook and a calendar and get on with it! Keep your fingers crossed! And look forward to new content <3

3. move in with my boyfriend :)

This resolution is more like a project and I have some idea of how we'll achieve it, but the truth is that it doesn't involve developing habits or something, just organizing a big move. If it goes well, maybe even in March! And if not in March then a little later, but definitely this year.
For those who don't know, I'll explain - I've been in a long-distance relationship for more than two years and 2024 will be the year we move from distance to everyday life together!

4. contact with friends and family.

I have a couple of these contacts on my phone that I think about all the time and end up not calling or writing despite the fact that I care about keeping in touch with these people. This year I've decided to make a list of people that I want to call or write to regularly and ask how they are doing.

This is what my resolutions look like, what do yours look like? Do you already have an action plan? Remember that an action plan increases the likelihood of achieving your goal! I'm keeping my fingers crossed ;)

POSTANAWIAM I ROBIĘ

źle to rozplanowałam. Trzymajcie kciuki! I wyczekujcie nowych treści <3

Trzymam kciuki ;)

Reflecting on 2023 – a huge throwback to last year!

I know we've already entered 2024, but that doesn't change the fact that we can still go back to 2023 ;)

The end of the year is a time for me to stop and reflect on the whole year - for a couple of years now, I've sat down with a notebook and made a big throwback to the events of the ending year and written down all the lessons, nice moments and beautiful memories I want to remember. I love that moment when, after writing it all down, the thought comes to me "and all this happened this year?!", haha! Before you jump into this post, take your notebook or a simple piece of paper and do a recap with me :) I'll be asking myself (and you) questions to help me get through last year!

Question No. 1: What have I learnt this year?

First and foremost, dealing with fear. For a long time it seemed to me that fear was not a normal emotion and feeling it suggested that something was wrong. Spoiler alert, fear is nor-mal! I've started to get used to the idea and, just as fear totally overpowered me at the beginning of this year, now I know how to face it.
The other thing is accepting and acknowledging emotions, which turned out to be the first step to letting go. Seriously, the moment I started saying to myself "I recognise that I am sad/angry/jealous/uncomfortable and I accept that" then suddenly the emotions started to melt and I was better.
The third and final lesson is tenderness towards myself. I'm sure you know that you are your own biggest critics - I am too, which is why I often was angry at me, even though there was actually no reason to. In 2023, I started to be more gentle to myself. And, another spoiler, it started to get a lot easier for me. In this small research I was helped by Natalia de Barbaro's "Tender Guide" (A Polish psychological book) . I'm not sure if it is available abroad but if you have a chance to read this book – go ahead and read! Totally recommended.

Trzecia i ostatnia lekcja, to czułość wobec mnie samej. W tym szukaniu i odnajdywaniu czułości pomogła mi „Czuła Przewodniczka” Natalii de Barbaro, którą serdecznie polecam każdej z was.

Question No. 2: When was I happiest?

When I was traveling, of course! 2023 exceeded my wildest expectations when it comes to travel - I visited many places but also traveled the same routes maaanyyy times. Also, my happiness level increases when I am among my friends and with my family. I realized that I am a very social person and I NEED to be with people and when I stay alone for too long, I start to fall into my old patterns that don’t do any good in my life.

Question 3: Greatest successes of 2023!

My greatest success is passing my driving license!!! I'm incredibly proud of that and I applaud myself all the time. I've been planning to get my driving license since 2017... so I'm glad I finally did it :p My second big success is finding what I want to do in life, which is to work in the beauty industry, especially in the technological field. I found a course of study that suits me very well.

The last success is probably the most beautiful success I have achieved so far - I finished my therapy. After almost a year of working together, my therapist and I decided that I am already in a place where I know how to cope on my own. I've written more about it here, so you can just click and check this out!

Pytanie nr 3: Najwspanialsze sukcesy 2023!

Mój największy sukces to zdanie prawa jazdy!!!

Question 4: Biggest surprises.

The biggest surprise of last year was the meeting of my mum and my boyfriend's mum. We had already planned it in April, or even March, and I was really happy that we actually made it to meet all together. Also this trip to Paris was a beautiful adventure for my mum! So I was very happy to see her enjoying this small vacation :) The second surprise was that I did three internships at once (!) during the summer holidays, two of which were online. Well, it wasn't the best idea, as it brought a lot of stress, but I managed. The third surprise, probably one of the most beautiful ones, was the frequency of meetings with my boyfriend. Considering the fact that we live in two different countries, and we were able to meet up to twice a month (!) I think that this is our great success <3

No i w ogóle przyjazd mojej mamy do Paryża, to dopiero była przygoda!

Question No. 5: What am I ending 2023 with?

I am ending this year with the thought that I have a lot of resources and strength within me to change, to get through all sorts of crises and other difficult situations. I was recently told that I have great power within me to transform mental crises into rich life lessons. I am pretty sure that you too have far more resources and strength within you than you think!

And this is how I’m starting 2024, with a fresh mind and good perspective. I am also planning to write a post about my plans for 2024 so if you’re interested, be sure to check out my blog in two weeks!

Stay tuned :D

September essentials and October projects!

September was so warm and half calm half crazy for me! Let’s chat about this almost past month and do some plans for October which is gonna be full of… surprises.

September

Two first week I spent in Paris as you could see in the last post – check it out here if you haven’t read it already. It was a very nice time that I spent with my boyfriend, his family and my mum too! I was very happy that we had managed to organize this trip for her so she can meet my boyfriend’s family :D

But (!) something had happened before this trip to Paris! I had a very beautiful opportunity to be a translator during a Polish-French wedding which was a huge challenge for me. I don’t know if you know this about me but I’m a French teacher and usually I use this language to teach (beside my everyday life with my French boyfriend :p ) so this wedding was a totally different thing! It was a beautiful evening and a lot of people told me that my French was very good :’) I had tears of joy in my eyes! Plus I opened myself to some other opportunities with French language.

The second part of September was.. full of French class! As the school year has begun, a lot of my French students came back so I had some work to do :p We went back to Vienna and I think it was my first flight that didn’t bring me back to Poland but to another city abroad. It was a funny feeling. Also we participated in Vienna Bachata Congress which is a bachata festival and it was pretty cool but also very exhausting. Would you like to know more about it? Maybe I can right a post about bachata? :D

We’re about to finish this month… in Paris, celebrating two year together and having the last French croissant! I’m very very veeerrryyyy grateful for all of this happening in my life :’)

October

The new semester begins so I will go back to Poland… finally :P This academic year I want to work on some organization habits, especially for the meal prep. Last year I had several situations when I didn’t prepare anything to eat and then I was starving for the half of the day so I really want to make it better now.

Another thing is that October is going to be full of nice trips (yeaaaah, again!) and an amazing event but I’ll tell you more about this at the end of this month. Also I need to finish my driving license! I haven’t finished it yet because I had to take a break as I was traveling during past two month and I wasn’t in Lodz at all.

I’m pretty excited for this month! How about you? Tell me in the comments!
