It’s the new beginning!

I can't believe I'm writing this, but I moved to Vienna. And it's for real! My adventure here began on Monday, April 29th - that day I arrived with the last backpack, and when my boyfriend came to pick me up at the train station I told him that I was finally here permanently and there’s no going back anymore. Two and a half years of a long-distance relationship is a very long time, and I am grateful to myself and him and us together for making it through this time and finally living together after an infinity of going back and forth.

I started quite relationship-wise, but that's not what this post is about ;P today I want to focus on a new chapter, which means life in Vienna. It's a good thing that I arrived just at the beginning of a new month, because I can start it with the thought "a new month in a new place", and thus build new habits and small traditions of daily life.

I will not pull the wool over your eyes - this moving out was not only associated with pleasant feelings. It was also associated with fear, uncertainty and stress. I don't know German, I don't know the people here, I don't have a job yet... a lot of unknowns and difficult thoughts. But (!) I decided to treat it as a challenge and find my paths in Vienna.

What have I done so far? First, I went to a yoga class with a friend and decided to try out a few different places to see which one I like the most and go there regularly. I signed up for a German class! And I decided to make Sundays cake-days!
I'm slowly finding myself in this city and treading my paths – coffee ones, yoga ones, walking ones. There's still a lot to do, but I'm trying to keep a positive attitude! It will be fine :)

September essentials and October projects!

September was so warm and half calm half crazy for me! Let’s chat about this almost past month and do some plans for October which is gonna be full of… surprises.

September

Two first week I spent in Paris as you could see in the last post – check it out here if you haven’t read it already. It was a very nice time that I spent with my boyfriend, his family and my mum too! I was very happy that we had managed to organize this trip for her so she can meet my boyfriend’s family :D

But (!) something had happened before this trip to Paris! I had a very beautiful opportunity to be a translator during a Polish-French wedding which was a huge challenge for me. I don’t know if you know this about me but I’m a French teacher and usually I use this language to teach (beside my everyday life with my French boyfriend :p ) so this wedding was a totally different thing! It was a beautiful evening and a lot of people told me that my French was very good :’) I had tears of joy in my eyes! Plus I opened myself to some other opportunities with French language.

The second part of September was.. full of French class! As the school year has begun, a lot of my French students came back so I had some work to do :p We went back to Vienna and I think it was my first flight that didn’t bring me back to Poland but to another city abroad. It was a funny feeling. Also we participated in Vienna Bachata Congress which is a bachata festival and it was pretty cool but also very exhausting. Would you like to know more about it? Maybe I can right a post about bachata? :D

We’re about to finish this month… in Paris, celebrating two year together and having the last French croissant! I’m very very veeerrryyyy grateful for all of this happening in my life :’)

October

The new semester begins so I will go back to Poland… finally :P This academic year I want to work on some organization habits, especially for the meal prep. Last year I had several situations when I didn’t prepare anything to eat and then I was starving for the half of the day so I really want to make it better now.

Another thing is that October is going to be full of nice trips (yeaaaah, again!) and an amazing event but I’ll tell you more about this at the end of this month. Also I need to finish my driving license! I haven’t finished it yet because I had to take a break as I was traveling during past two month and I wasn’t in Lodz at all.

I’m pretty excited for this month! How about you? Tell me in the comments!

July moments & August plans

It’s already a tradition on my blog that whenever I publish a podcast episode about last month's essentials I write an English version of this podcast episode for my blog. On one hand it’s for my English speaking friends so they can also enjoy this part of my content but on the other hand it’s a good moment for me to go back to all those beautiful moments and reflect on my new month plans. So here we go with some beautiful moments from July and cool plans for the rest of August!

July essentials

July was an “internship month” so it was all about my internship at a cosmetic laboratory. Actually I did more paperwork but still I was very happy I could help the team and my work was really needed. All in all I’m happy with what I’ve learned! And a little bit upset that I didn’t have enough time to see the real laboratory work but still. Experience is experience and what you’ve learned is good whatever it was.

It was also a month of a new challenge – I’ve started my driving license! If you follow me on Instagram, you could see it was really a challenge for me. I mean I had some ups and downs (as everybody) and learned a lot about myself too. For example I thought that I had already overcome this “you must be perfect in this in two seconds” but actually I still expected myself to be perfect at driving after two lessons… so it was a good moment for me to rethink and reconstruct my inner voice. My driving course is not over yet but I had to stop for a while because of my August voyage!

What else? It was a moment of some food goodies! In Poland we have a kind of a… sweet bun? Muffin? I don’t know what to call it but it’s like a bun filled with blueberries and we call it “jagodzianka”. It’s de-li-cious! And if you have a chance to try it, try it! Also it was a moment for my first iced latte :) ah what a beautiful month with amazing food! I think that summer is my favorite time of the year when it comes to food and fresh veggies and juicy fruits… love that.

August plans

On the 3rd of August I took a plane to come to Vienna. It was one of my favorite moments because it was the beginning of my vacation and the beginning of a very long moment that I’m going to spend with my beloved one. Being in a long-distance relationship makes you look for some opportunities to live together. I’ve already had this chance twice – for the first time it was in September 2022 when we went on a trip together for three almost four weeks and then in February 2023 when I had a longer break in between my studies. Having this opportunity to come to Vienna and actually live there is a huge thing and I’m very grateful for that! So what I’ve planned for this time?

Well, as I had a memory of me in February feeling lost in my routines and everyday life, I decided to plan my days, more or less, so I have some checkpoints that can help me organize myself and give me a feeling of having a purpose on an everyday basis. I wrote down all the things I can do during the day and I try to put them in my routine but without any pressure that “I must/have to/need to”.

Also I will come back to Poland for my birthday and then for one week at the end of August. Once I wrote down all the plane tickets I had already bought or still needed to buy and wow it was a real list of trips. And you know what? I’m very proud of myself to have this opportunity. It's a self-appreciation moment to tell myself “you did well and you’re doing well, congrats!”. Do you do it for yourself too? Highly recommended, self-applause is needed and it gives you this feeling of accomplishing a great job. Actually inner appreciation is more needed than this outer one. Okay I need to stop this Basia Coello talk, haha :p

That’s it for today, hope you had a great time in July and have an amazing time in August! Cheers!

May the calm be with you!

Hi guys! Happy May! I hope this month will be great for you. Last week I published a new podcast episode in Polish, and this week I decided to make a small resume of this conversation with my friend about the end of April and the beginning of May.

// April essentials.

There is a saying in Polish which basically means “April’s weather can fool you every day” and actually it perfectly describes the weather in April this year. I don’t know about you, but the weather has a strong influence on my mood :p beginning of April was very cloudy and rainy and so was I – gloomy and sad. But when the sun started to go out more often I became much happier.

What else? April was a little bit challenging for me (and May is going to be challenging too) because I’m looking for an internship for this summer and let’s say it’s difficult for me… especially when everybody around has already found their internship. Well, I’m trying to stay calm and focus on the good. Hopefully by the end of May I could say that I found an internship!

Also, I’ve started to discover the city I’m living in now. Łódź is a postindustrial city and this is definitely not my vibe but I decided to find some things that are cool / nice to see / interesting to discover. Now, when I’ve found more friends, it’s easier so I hope we’ll discover more things together!

// May hopes and inspiration.

I still can’t believe May has already come but well, as I always say – time flies! This month I really want to concentrate on my confidence. In April I realized I’m not as confident as I used to think, so now it’s time to change it and to really work on that. Well, I would like to achieve it fast and without any effort ( XD ) but I deeply know it’s gonna take time.

Also I want to continue my new habit of morning meditation which really helps me to find peace. And morning yoga! Or evening yoga – both are perfect and help to wake up or calm down before going to bed.

Well, it seems like May is going to be great! How about you? Are you going to face a challenge? Or continue a new or an old habit? Let me know!

I’m going to spend the whole month in Vienna!

If someone had told me two years ago that I would live in Vienna for a month and that almost every weekend I would go on a trip, I think I would hadn’t belived in it… OR it would have been very difficult to believe.

This month I’m in Vienna with my boyfriend which is really amazing for us. As we are in a long distance relationship we see each other just for a weekend or maybe for a whole week so having one month together is like a miracle for us.

On the other hand I will have a lot of time for myself – Vivien works and he can’t take a whole month off so the most of the day I’m going to spend with myself. It’s a challenge for me because I was always avoiding being alone so now it’s time to face it and find a peace with myself.

Not gonna lie I’m excited! All those plans and coming things are amazing, really. In the past I would say that I’m privileged for that but now I know that some of those things didn’t fall down from the sky but they are consequences of my actions and previous choices and decisions. And I am very very veeeryy grateful for that. Cheers to this month and this life!

Inspirations & intentions

Recently I shared with you some difficult stuff and today I decided to share something lighter, without hard emotions pr feelings. So I thought that as March has just finished and April has begun it’s a good moment to share some inspiration from last month and talk about intentions for the new one. Let’s go!

Ostatnio napisałam kilka postów ciężkiego kalibru, dlatego dzisiaj postanowiłam opowiedzieć o czymś przyjemniejszym i spokojniejszym. Z oddechem i lekkością!

M A R C H

March was full of new and interesting experiences. Long story short – I moved out to a small studio, which is on the 10th floor. When I found this place, I realized what it means to live on the 10th floor – it’s all about admiring the view out of the window. Wonderful sunsets and amazing sunrises, even though this flat is from the west side. Those views are incredible and make me feel impressed by nature and its beauty.

I also have some recommendations for you guys! First, Yeh Ballet, which is a movie about two boys exploring their passion to dance – well maybe it doesn’t sound interesting for you but I really recommend that movie, because they both go through hard experiences to achieve their goals. Not gonna say anything else, because it would be too much!
Another recommendation is a book that I am reading right now – it is a Polish book and unfortunately I am not sure if it has an English translation, but let me tell you what it is about. This is called "Języczni", it isn’t a real word but it means something like polyglot. It shows the influence of languages that we know and can speak – how it affects our personality, how the languages don’t mix together, and how to learn foreign languages. It’s a very good book and I am sure I’ll tell you more about this when I’ll finish it. Stay tuned!

And last but not least for March – cooking! You know that I am a huge fan of cooking and baking and it is great fun and pleasure to cook for somebody and with somebody. I always experiment in the kitchen and all of my recipes don’t have any specific ratios, but I’m sharing with you some photos for inspiration!

M A R Z E C

Chyba każdy z Was doskonale wie, że jestem fanką gotowania. :) )

A P R I L

The beginning of the new month is a good moment to introduce some new habits and changes. I really like this kind of stuff because it gives me motivation and a huge wave of energy! What did I decide to do this month? First of all, I want to work on my everyday life, especially on the routines, rituals, and habits. Our body and mind like the stability and cycles in everyday life, like the regular hours of eating, sleeping, activity, and so on. Obviously, we don’t live in a perfect world, so it doesn’t look like this all the time, but it’s good (and important!) to have 80-90% of the routine. And this is my intention for April!

Another thing is organization. Recently I noticed that I don’t really know how to calculate the time I need to do something and most of the time I plan more than I can do. So I decided to observe this issue during this month and change all that stuff that needs to be changed. My goal is to work on good organization and planning a time for rest and pleasure.

And the last thing – assertiveness and the art of outing borders. This is something that I try to work on for a long time. And so this month I continue this work by finding cause and effect, which means looking for a source of this behavior. Is it an experience? A thought process? I’m going to figure it out!

K W I E C I E Ń

Początek miesiąca to dobry moment na wprowadzenie nowości i podjęcie wyzwań. Uwielbiam takie rzeczy, bo sprawiają, że czuję motywację i przypływ energii! Co postanowiłam? Popracować nad regularnością, cyklicznością i rutynowością w mojej codzienności.

The end and beginning of a month is a good moment for reflection – I recommend sitting down with a sheet of paper and write down all the stuff. Let’s share some inspiration. Good luck!

Życzę Wam powodzenia i trzymam kciuki!
